The weekend that was:
On Friday night we had 330 students from all across Carlton County got together in an unprecedented way and locked themselves in the Carlton Civic Center from 6pm at night to 6am in the morning. There was skating, there was swimming there were games, there was an arcade. It was all there, and everyone over 18 was counting the hours, minutes and seconds until it was over. Despite the craziness, despite the caffeine intake, God was able to move and grab a hold of some students as they wrestled with what their relationship with Christ might look like.
After that my weekend was a blur and I'm still not quite sure what day it is. I'm assuming it's Monday. This week also marks the beginning of one of the most important times of the year, Advent. I've been thinking a lot about the advent season this year, trying to find ways to make this more relevant to families in our high paced busy worlds. Do we take enough time to think about Jesus coming into the world and all that it meant for us? So that's something I'm chewing on right now.
On my to do list: This week Harold (the senior pastor here at Hartland Baptist Church) is taking some much deserved down time. So I'll be speaking twice once at Peel Baptist and than at Hartland. So I need to get my sermon ready. I have a general idea of what I want to speak on so it shouldn't take too much time to get ready.
I also need to get things ready for our Family Christmas Celebration. This should be a great time for all the families in our church to see their kids in action.
Procrastinating about: Getting the Family Christmas Celebration ready, I've been putting that off for weeks. So it needs to get done this week.
Book I'm in the midst of: Still working on N.T. Wright's book. It's heavy stuff. Not something you read a few chapters of before you go to sleep.
Music that caught my ear: I've been listening to the voice of Christmas Bing Crosby a lot this week. Getting into the Christmas spirit.
How I'm feeling about this week: This should be a quiet week so I'm looking forward to the respite.
Until next week
